Design Terminology

Hand-Tied Bouquet - a bouquet of cut flowers, can be put directly into a vase and requires little or no arranging. You can request that your bouquet be "water-wrapped" to keep it fresh if it is going to sit for a while before reaching its desitnation.

Presentation Bouquet - a flat bouquet of cut flowers, laid out in rows (think Miss America bouquet!), requires arranging by the recipient. This is a good option for either a small number of flowers, or, of course, presentation as a gift.

Arrangement - cut flowers and foliage arranged in floral foam, a vase, basket, metal container, etc. Flowers can be arranged in almost anything!.

Vase Arrangement - any type of cut flowers and/or foliage arranged in a vase.

Planter Basket - small pots of flowers and plants are arranged in a large water-tight container or basket and covered with moss, sisal or grass. This style allows individual plants to be changed without the mess of re-potting.

European Garden - small plants are planted directly into a water-tight, soil-filled basket or large container, and covered with moss, sisal or grass. Changing out plants requires re-potting.

Monochromatic - all flowers in the arrangement are from the same color family, such as a cut flower bouquet in different shades of pink.

Monobotanical - all flowers in the arrangement are the same type, but color may vary, such as a hand-tied bouquet of pink and orange tulips.

Contemporary Arrangement - usually a low, lush arrangement with densely packed flowers or a tall abstract arrangement with a few exotic stems. Tropical flowers and foliage are often used in this style.

Traditional Arrangement -cut flowers and foliage arranged in a vase, basket, or other container. Often they are symmetrical in design and round, oval or triangular in shape (most FTD and Teleflora style arrangements fit into this category).

Wrap Options

At Posy, we wrap all our bouquets in cello, tissue, rice paper or mesh, depending on the style of the bouquet, and tie them with a big satin bow - no paper stuff here! However, some occasions call for that "little bit extra" or that big "over the top" so we offer these upgrades to make sure you get exactly what you want.

Box
At Posy, we think that some things are timeless: the thrill of untying a big silky bow and lifting the lid off the box to reveal the beautiful flowers inside never goes out of style. All of our boxes are tied with 3" satin ribbon.

Fabric
Want to send a bouquet that will stand out from all those she's received in the past? Ask our designers to add Posy's unique fabric wrap. A collar of beautiful fabric will be wrapped around your bouquet to add size and impact. Perfect for romantic occasions when you want to send something extra special.

Wire
Aluminum wire is available in all kinds of colors, and can be used to make a unique binding on hand-tied bouquets, or to add a contemporary touch to any arrangement. This is a perfect addition for a masculine arrangement.

Rhinestones / Beads
Add an elegant decorative touch to your flowers with rhinestones and beads. Rhinestone buckles can be attached to vases or hand-tied bouquets, small jewels can be added to the centers of flowers, and beads can be threaded onto bear or lily grass to enhance the arrangement.
